About
I'm a senior digital marketing engineer. I work at the point where marketing goals meet technical capability, and I've been doing it since 2007.
Today I'm at a national early-education company, working on a multi-brand SEO program — technical SEO, local search, SEO A/B testing, and the web analytics underneath all of it. I'm the lead software engineer on the company's WordPress sites, and I lead the creation and maintenance of custom PHP and Python tooling that automates validation of digital content. I manage more than 20 Google Tag Manager containers and more than 30 Google Analytics properties across our brands, and work with analysts to integrate and interpret that data — including BigQuery, Power BI, and CRM reporting.
For the past couple of years that work has extended into answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization — making sure a brand shows up well when the answer comes from an AI system instead of a list of links. It's the same discipline pointed at a new surface, and most of the old assumptions need re-testing.
Before that I spent eleven years running Orange Static, a boutique digital marketing agency I founded in Newport Beach and later ran from Austin and then Portland — hiring developers and specialists, handling client SEO campaigns, and building WordPress sites end to end. I started as an SEO analyst at DGWB Advertising in 2007.
The common thread is that I can do the marketing work and then build the thing that does it. That's usually where I'm most useful: the point where an SEO or analytics problem becomes an engineering one.
